JBA ML - ERP system lifespan

Hi everyone,

Was just wondering if the group had a thought about how long the [typical]
lifespan of an ERP installation is. Considering the effort involved to
implement a ERP system is enormous and costly,
how long could you expect to use one before the possibilty of replacing it
comes up.
(obviously business needs, roi calcs, technology advancements, software
partner relationships, many things are involved in a question like this)
We currently have been using System21 for about 5 years, and had Mapics for
about 12+ years before that. Basically, we have some issues with the long
term use off S21 and any 3-7 year planning involves our relationship with
this product.

Thanks for any thoughts on a somewhat vague question.
