One of the things that we did for a distributor that has about 5000 active
items and a large number of new items and old items being retired, was to
give them the ability to fix forecasts for particular months. This prevents
period-end forecasting from touching the manually entered forecasts for the
specified months. They have found this very useful for both new items (no or
little sales history) and for certain key items.

Another JIT type of modification involves a dynamic re-calculation of the
Forecasting Spread Profiles to better accomodate seasonal items. This
replaces the fixed percentage method of spreading the monthly Forecasting
forecasts into weekly DRP buckets, and is especially helpful if an item has
most of its sales at the end of the month.
