On question 1, we do lots of business overseas and we use the language field for some of our parts. You have to set up languages in STRM400, #9 Admin Functions, #2 Language Parameters. Then setup a part in Inventory Maint. F23, you indicate what language you want. Also any F21 or F22 text can be of another language. When you do AOE, you use the F14 Header and then F16 Add'tl Overrides to indicate language preference for shipping papers and invoices. The item description will be printed as indicated from Add'tl Overrides. Also in OE Customer Maint. you can set up a default language for any customer and all language text for them will print as well as alt. language item descriptions and text. We use this all the time but I'm sure actually all of the details. If your interested in all the details my spare parts department can probably walk you through some of the needed parameters and set up tasks. On question 2, we're still struggling with that field and all of its nuances. Hope this helps. In item maintenance on the second screen, there is an option of function F23 for Language descriptions, how does this work and where will the selected language display and print. In the same option, there is a function F17 for Alternative Item Reference, where will this print and if I put a customer # in the agency field, will this print only for that customer. The manual states that you can put a customer in this field. What I want to do is print on the Invoice and Order Ack. the alt language item description.
