The general interpretation of the SC module is that it's not recommended by
JBA manufacturing consultants (names withheld). We circumnavigate the
process as follows:

        - An O/S item number is created in JBA to represent an Outside
Process.
        - The O/S item number is vendor scheduled identical to a Raw
Material.
        - The Vendor Schedule is your "scheduled" quantity to ship to O/S
vendor.
        - Stockroom "OP" is created simply to separate and "easily identify
Outside Processing balances (or imbalances)".
        - Unprocessed "Raw Material" for O/S are MANUALLY "Stock
Transferred" from 03 (Main) to OP (same value).
        - The O/S item is received into Stockroom "OP" (item to be 3-way
matched).
        - Both O/S item and Raw Material (transferred from Main SR) are
backflushed (issued) out of stockroom "OP"
        - O/S reconciliation is simplified by stockroom: Raw Material Issued
& Completed O/S Received, less Gross Manufactured @ Standard
(technically, each item in OP stockroom should be zero excluding
"In-process Inventory" and unplanned O/S scrap).
        - The OP stockroom will have to be scrutinized daily like any other
inventory, O/S vendor will have to provide "scrapped" items (to be
scrapped in the Inventory system as a "S" transaction - AFI rule
required), and Physical Inventory will NOT have to include O/S items.

Subject: Subcontractors

Hi all,

Does anyone use the Subcontractor module (/MKS), and I would like to know
of your experience's with it.

We need to be able to :

Set up a work order, we will perform the first and second operation say, ie
print and send all packaging, and then we need to send them out to a
subcontractor, who will fill and pack the product, and then send the
product back to us in Kits(packs of 6), ie we will send out 6,000 labels,
and they will send us back 990 kits.

To save costs, we normally send out 20,000 labels at a time, Can the
Subcontractor module take care of this ?

Regards

Monica Moloney
