Stuart is right... The Housekeeping module in JBA does not provide much value and is quite cumbersome to use... When I used to teach the System Manager course I would typically tell the customer that whatever they were using now was probably better and to stick with it... That third party tool sounds like a winner, I for one am always interested in good tools that help me keep the system humming along... I'll have to check that one out... Along with the RTVDISKINF/PRTDISKINF. (GO DISKTASKS) that he suggested... I think we all can benefit from having good tools at our fingertips and I appreciate sharing that knowledge and experience as well (both good and bad)... In light of the recent admonitions I understand the reluctance to say anything that would even give the appearance of a solicitation... Perhaps we can get a more definitive ruling from the judges on what we can and cannot say... For example, a while ago, I mentioned a cool File Maintenance tool ("WRKDBF") that is freeware I found on the web... I have no vested interest in the tool other than I use it and I thought others would derive value from knowing about it too... I don't know if what I did is against the rules or not... I would hope that we could keep the free flow of ideas (including sharing cool tools that we like) while preventing the obvious solicitations for commercial business off the list... For instance would it be a violation to ask list members to list their one most favorite utility that they use...? That might be a valuable exercise for many people... At a recent Great Lakes users group meeting Steve Prill told me about a piece of shareware on the web called SPLTOOL that solved a problem I was having trying to print a pagerange over TCP/IP... If Steve had not shared that with me I may never have found it... My users love it and so do I... Again I have no vested interest in BVSTOOLS but I find that particular utility very helpful and others may as well... +--- | This is the JBA Software Users Mailing List! | To submit a new message send your mail to JBAUSERS-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to JBAUSERS-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to JBAUSERS-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner: doug333@aol.com. +---
