We are going to Explorer. I have been told that Explorer is JBA's direction,
there apparently will not be any more enhancements to Client Workspace. I am
looking forward to seeing how the new software looks. I must admit that I have
been less than impressed with some of the Style product but I am hoping that
version 3.5 adds a lot of functionality and improves on the lack of integrity
of the system.
Maybe you or someone has a thought on this. A colleague of mine is a DBA who
strongly believes in data integrity and tightly integral database. He said to
me that he has noticed that the majority of the time when software companies
develop systems, usually there is little integrity in the database. It is
almost solely accomplished by the programs. He then stated that maybe this is
partially planned since a really tight database can not be corrupted. You can
have the least experienced programmer write erroneous code and a tight database
just plain will not accept it. It is almost impossible to screw it up. On
the other hand, with all the integrity in the programs, should an inexperienced
programmer make a mistake then the software producer can charge an outrageous
fee to correct the corrupted data. Oh well, just a thought....

Thanks for the feedback Rob, we are in the process of installing 3.5.0 and
I previewed the GUI in a demo last week... (both Client Workspace and
Explorer). Explorer is not fully released yet is it? Client Workspace
seemed little more than a screen scraper to me.

We are getting a 620e AS/400 deleivered next week with JBA scheduled to
install 3.5.0 the following week. We will be going to the new GUI
interface so there will be a lot of learning and setup.
