Almost nothing can beat muscle memory. :-)

That memory has often surfaced over the years and while I know that web
apps can be coded in such a way that mouse usage is optional - it's still
hard to imagine the same speed of data entry.

This matches my feeling about web stuff.

The pros and cons about TUI vs. GUI have been exchanged for decades, and if there was something like an agreement, it was approximately "it depends". :-) This makes me believe there is a certain non-rational component about those arguments: Personal taste. And you can't argue about taste, can you? :-)
