thing you are going to know is that an error occurred.

You can use the %msg(...) BIF to send any message from any message file that you like. We use some generic messages from an own message file, but you can also send any CPF or other message.

And with monitor/on-excp you can check for exactly this error messages, that snd-msg will send.

The only thing that annoys me is, that you cannot check for the exception/message in the on-exit part of a procedure without a lot of fuss.
