IMHO: Each tool at its time.
Sometime I prefer SEU if it should be F&D, RDi for complex and oversight
programming and VSCode sometimes for converting to free (save the source
before).
One thing is for sure, SEU is the most integrated tool in the IBM i
ecosystem, even if it is no longer developed further. It belongs to the IBM
i ever!

Ok, I'm a dinosaur :-)

Just my 2cts.

I'm a lifelong user of RDi (and Code400 before it). VS Code with the Code
for i extension is WAY faster. It is not even close. There is not really
even a significant speed difference between opening a source member in VS
Code and in SEU.

I started using that tooling about 12 months ago when it became obvious that
IBM weren't going to fix the problems with RDi on Mac any time soon and I
was tired of having to reload and reapply my plugins.

It loads faster, compiles faster, and has been my daily workhorse for months
now.

Bloatware? I see no signs of that.

Are we talking Microsloth (I have other dysphemisms, but they're NSFW)
Visual Studio Code? That's one of the worst pieces of bloatware I've ever
seen in the whole realm of development tools. It makes Eclipse seem like a
speeding bullet.
