Trap Record lock error

Hello all

I'm wrestling with trapping Record lock in RPGLE PGM
With mixed results
Here is a snippet of Birgitta Code

DCL-DS PGMSDS PSDS Qualified; MsgTxt Char(80) Pos(91); End-DS Chain(E)
YourKey YourFile; If %Status = '01218' //Record Lock; //Error Message incl.
the qualified Job who holds the row is in PGMDSD.MsgTxt EndIf;

The %status does not get the 01218 value
but the MsgText does get the error text .

In this code the on-Error never fires
Monitor;
Chain Key MyFileF;
On-Error 1218; // Record-Lock
//Handle Record-Locks
On-Error;
//Handle other errors;
EndMon;

What am I doing wrong?
