Perhaps part of the problem is this is a RPG list and your asking
questions better suited for the midrange-l list so don't be surprised if
some answers are bent towards RPG.

Hi,

So does it mean SQL join can not be used here only RPG program could
provide desired matching results here ?

If Yes, what would be the flow of RPG program to achieve this ?

Thanks

Yes Jon You are right.

However the original question was WRKQRY, I suggested to try a SQL
solution, my error in mentioning RPG.

Also I am fully aware that fundamentally everything in a computer is a
string of ons and offs.
Even signed Int have a bit pattern that has a more fundamental binary
representation.

What I was trying to say is I never understood the point of converting
Character data to Integer.
I guess it has something to do with how different OS represent the bit
patterns as various data types.

IMO there is something more fundamentally wrong when trying to join
files using fields of different type.
The solution is a band aid on a mortal wound.

It is not only possible but easy - that is what %Int is for. But since
the question was about SQL not RPG I don't understand the reference.

You are trying to Cast a Character as Integer. I dont believe that
is
possible in RPG. I know C can do something like this but the result
boggles
my mind.
Did you try to cast the numeric as character?
You also may need to Trim blanks.
