CompileOpt are the compile options for the RPG Compiler, i.e. CRTBNDRPG or
CRTRPGMOD (depending on whether you want to compile a Program or Module).
A lot of these compile options can also be set in the H-Specs (CTL-OPT), for
example the Activation Group or Binding Directories to be used.
If you can set them in the H-Spec, there is no need anymore to set them in
the compile command.

The Options set in the SET OPTION Statement are for the SQL Pre-Compiler and
can also be set in the compile command.
If you set those compile options once in the source you never have to
remember them.

Just a reminder that COMPILEOPT can be set in the source so that you don't
have to remember it every time. Just use set option at the top of your
source. https://dawnmayi.com/2010/01/04/use-rpg-and-sql-together/ Dawn May
explaining much better that I ever could.

Justin,
The COMPILEOPT parameter allows you to specify options to be "passed
through" the SQL preprocessor to whatever compile command you are ultimately
invoking, depending on whether you tell CRTRPGSQLI to create a *MODULE or a
*PGM ... (CRTRPGMOD or CRTBNDRPG, respectively).
So, you need to prompt those commands, press F10=Additional parameters, and
press F11 to see the keywords, and F9 to ensure you see all of the available
options.
A typical use might be (for example):
CRTRPGSQLI ... COMPILEOPT('DBGVIEW(*LIST)')

Can anyone point me in the direction of the list of allowed COMPILEOPT
values for the CRTSQLRPGI command? The help says to consult "DB2 for i SQL
programming" on the InfoCenter. If there's a list there, IBM has it hidden
so well I can't find it.
