Thanks a lot! Will use this as base. A quick look doesn't show significant differences. My program still crashes. You also solved missing symbols when compiling differently. But since these are only necessary in the main pwgen c file, I don't think that this affects me. I'll check this also, however.
I'll use your RPG snippet to create a sandbox for testing and insulating the culprit. I'll let you know when I feel less fed up with it so I have patience again to start further tests. :-)
