I would like to thank everyone who took the time to help me find the
solution.

joe said right from the start, i dit have training in FREE and Never has
direct contact with pointers I thought it was not what I intended. In the
last few weeks i have lost nights reading and trying to understand by
myself and ia did stupid questions to all of you.

Using the keyword BASED POINTER on the definion , i justneed to initiale

DCL-DS FR5005DS EXTNAME(FR5005DS) BASED(pFR5005DS);
DCL-PI *N;
p_fr5005ds like(FR5005DS);
END-PI;

Its possivel do this directly on dcl-pi or in DS definition , and no need
to make this line?
pFR5005DS = %addr(p_fr5005ds);

Question - Based(%addr(p_fr5005ds) its valid?

DCL-DS FR5005DS EXTNAME(FR5005DS)BASED(%addr(p_fr5005DS);

DCL-PI *N;
p_fr5005ds;
END-PI;

This could be done with *Entry Plist - but you get a variable already
defined if you try to do it in free-form.
That difference was where this thread started.

*slaps forehead*

I have to admit that I don't think that we even thought of allowing a
parameter in the PI to refer to a variable that was already defined.

I think it didn't occur to us was because the PI parameter is more of a
"definition" than a *ENTRY PLIST parameter is. I was going to say
"especially for a LIKEDS definition", but that rule was in place long
before LIKEDS.

You're right, that could be done. I think it would need some kind of
keyword on the non-PI definition though, to indicate the programmer's
intention for it to actually be a PI parameter. Or maybe a special kind of
PI parameter that says the actual parameter is defined elsewhere.
