That plus the half-rounding of %DECH. The truncating of the
string manipulation method also bothered me.

If that was an issue, I wouldn't have characterized your string
processing as "working" then.


It wasn't an issue in the case where I was using string
manipulation. It was always only removing zeroes. But I was thinking of
a more generalized (service) routine that would need to check if what was
being truncated was not zero. So, with ending up using %DECH it solved
all concerns.
