The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
I realize, very weak arguments. Sorry, my crystal ball is offline for maintenance. ;-)
Well, maybe the RPG compiler team appreciates your attempt to "defend"
them anyway. ;)
I have a lot of respect for the folks who have been and still are
responsible for the implementation of the RPG language. I appreciate
their work, and I don't think what they do is easy. I am also aware
that some ideas that *sound* like they should be simple... aren't
always actually simple to implement. (In particular, early design
decisions may hamper later enhancements. Then adding something
"simple" may actually require significant refactoring.)
This one is a sore spot for me because I *love* the idea of *START and
*END. I really wish it had been more fleshed out. In addition to
allowing them to be used with record format names, I would also allow
them to be used with SETGT (where they would work exactly the same as
they do for SETLL).
