Just for the archive, *START and *END were introduced at V4R4. (Are you really working on an OS version before that ?!)

The IBM Knowledge Center enables you to access and download the latest versions of manuals. In the case of the RPG IV Reference (SC09-2508-11) there is also an introductory "What's New" section which outlines enhancements to the language at each Version/Release level, as far back as V3R6/V3R2.

Brian.

PS. Avoid using *LOVAL / *HIVAL for these operations. Use *START or *END as required. From the manual:
My Manual doesn't even mention these. :-) (SC09-2508-03). Yes, it's dated, as the OS I'm using. ;-)

But thanks for the hint!
