To my understanding, CGI programming is a long obsolete way of doing web

I would say that mainstream language environments are much more widely
used for implementing web interfaces than the IBM i integrated language
environment. Relatively few people implement web interfaces via ILE
languages and CGI interfaces. But "obsolete" is not the right word.
Our products use ILE languages to implement web interfaces, mostly for
performance reasons. Our competitors recommend and require 10 times more
CPU cores for their products, than we do.
