The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
I am an independent consultant and can't afford the price of RDi (unless I
am missing something in the research I have done) and I think it is horrible
that IBM has priced this so high.
Now that my rant is over, can you recommend some of the free / low cost
alternatives that you mentioned, leaning more towards the free ones?

You didn't mention that you were still using SEU.
SEU was frozen at V6 and doesn't understand anything added to the language
after that. It will not be enhanced.
It is long past time to move to RDi - or even one of the free/low cost
editor alternatives. SEU is dead.
