This is painfully obtuse but I am gaining ground with it.  I have an SQLRPGLE  program that properly populates StOut.  I have an HTTP server, an application server, and have deployed the web service. Now the error message is:

com.ibm.as400.access.AS400SecurityException: Password is *NONE.:QWSERVICE

which surprised me. I expected to be asked to sign in, like I am asked when opening :2001/HTTPAdmin.
