If you do get assigned tasks in an object oriented language like Java or
C#, don't underestimate the learning curve required with learning object
oriented design patterns. The learning curve is more than learning a
language. I'm no expert in those areas, but learning the design patterns,
makes or breaks the quality of what you build, and is the hard part imo,
not learning the language. Language = fairly easy; Design patterns and how
to apply them = not easy.

Yep, I've programmed in over 22 languages but RPG-III and JAVA are
not included. ;-) Doesn't mean I couldn't pick up JAVA. It just
means no one has ever asked me to create anything for them in JAVA. ;-)
One of the more esoteric languages I've done quite a bit of programming
in is APL. ;-)
