The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

is it possible to define this so that it take any "type" as a second
parm. Then within the routine, determine what that parm type is and
proceed as needed.
writeb('desc1' : 'this is a string');
writeb('desc2' : 123.24);
There's an RFE that is somewhat related to this, asking for an option to
pass any type of parameter to the called procedure as a character value,
basically passing the %CHAR value of the parameter.

I made a comment in that RFE that I think a better solution would be for
RPG to have an "any type" parameter, with an RPG-only "described
parameter" mechanism that would allow the called procedure to know what
the parameter type is. But that would need a separate RFE, which doesn't
exist yet.
