Now, if only people would stop naming columns OPEN$ and ACCT#.
Don't ask how often we have to fight in Europe (and may be in other
Countries where not CCSID 37 is used) with this kind of column and variable
names.
In US English you can use the @ sign in column and object names, in German
German (CCSID 273) we can use the § sign instead, which is by the way not
allowed in Swiss German!
AFAIK in British English the $ must be replaced with the Pound sign ...

A lot of these update one character position situations are one shot
conversions that will either run once from Navigator in one country, or be
adjusted as they are run in multiple countries.

Be careful with || it is not international, replace it with CONCAT.
In my German code I have to use !! instead of ||
