The only thing I can imagine you mean is that they are not "in the
style" of RPG, or somehow do not "feel like" RPG.

Well, that may be so. But I would think that's mainly because RPG
doesn't have anything like them. And by its nature, RPG is not a very
extensible language. So anything of significance that you add to it is
going to feel quite foreign.
