Your last point is spot-on. That’s where the dark side of copy/paste comes in.

I don't think copy/paste is necessarily a bad sterotype.
How many of us create truly original code each day ?
I work in RPG, CL, Java, .Net, PHP, Powershell, HTML, CSS, Javascript and other scripting languages and I can't count a day when I don't copy or paste code samples created by someone else.
Why re-invent the wheel when you can borrow great examples and improve ?
Just make sure you understand the code 😊
