A couple of curiosity questions... I've done most of this back in
the day with all internally-described files, but...
What if both your input file and your output printer file are
externally defined. What is required in order to use RPG's automatic
level breaks? I found an answer on the Internet for the input file (which
requires creating your own I-spec in order to add the level indicators).
I'm wondering how the externally-described printer file is handled in this
case? Do I have to create my own O-specs in this case, too?
Also, if your report is to contain a calculated field can it be
included in RPG's automatic level breaks? ...or does it have to be mostly
handled within the C-specs and output only at level break time? For
example... If the primary input file has cost and quantity from which the
extended value is calculated on the report, how does the calculated value
take part in level break processing?
Sincerely,
Dave Clark
