As someone who was also thrust into RPG, I say welcome. My only advice is
to start with with whatever standards and processes your
company/supervisor currently have as you learn. Even if it not the best
process it will help you learn the code you will have to maintain going
forward. Parallel to that learn and push for the newer processes where
and when you can.

"holy war" here. My supervisor has indicated that I know enough about the
