And my own point of view is that of one who spent five years at CSU Long Beach, learning at least a little about every language they offered, from COBOL to LISP, ignoring only BASIC (having spent two years of high school learning IBM VS-BASIC and IBM FORTRAN G1, and having a TRS-80 Model I at home), who cherishes diversity, and who regards overspecialization as something to be avoided at all cost.
