I'm a somewhat new RPG dev, and I have had to maintain a fair share of
legacy cycle programs... I even wrote a new program using the cycle because
I simply wanted to spit out all the records in the file onto a report, and
that can be done with less code if you employ the cycle. That being said, I
dislike maintaining cycle programs and had a hard time understanding it for
the first year or so. I still have no clue how a matching record program
operates...
I own the book Brent mentioned, and it's not bad for the concepts, but it
is lacking more current free format examples. Luckily there are many
examples of modern free code available online!
I hope you enjoy this new journey into RPG-land Brent! It's dangerous to go
alone, take this! (this being knowledge accumulated from the Midrange list
=P)
