I just click on the link and then clicked on the link that said :

that you have IBM i 7.1 or later, so
that you can use the free-form version of most RPG IV statement types.
If you are on an earlier version, use the older form of this tutorial: Coding in RPG IV - a beginner's tutorial

It seems like it is free form in that tutorial too.


Am I missing something?

But it's very introductory, so you might already be past its level.
Still, it might be useful to get a different perspective.

The first page links to an older form of the tutorial that didn't use
the newer fully-free-form syntax. Except for the syntax, the two
versions of the tutorial are pretty much the same.
