I love it. Only downsides I can think of would be to a chiropractor for your sore hand or a keyboard maker since you don't wear out the ENTER key.
Add my vote for it being the default.

I can't think of one... unless you encounter some kind of buffer corruption issue, in which case you might want to enable IO debugging temporarily.
Personally, I would prefer it be the default.
