Should ss-Open be '/ax_on_i/test/' or be '/ax_on_i/test/test.xlsx' ?

The latter - you want to specify the full path including the file name.

In the job log I get a RNX0301 which shows the path as be
'/ax_on_i/test/test.xlsx' but it also has some character after it. I see a
block. I have trimmed the file and path so I do not know where that comes
from.

I have an example that looks like this:

d full_path s 64a varying

C *ENTRY PLIST
C PARM path_in 64

// Load an existing spreadsheet into memory
full_path = %trim(path_in);
book = ss_open(full_path);
if (book = *null);
complain('Unable to open workbook!');
endif;

I don't call this from the command line, unless I physically type 64
characters between the quotes. The command line doesn't know how many
characters to give you: there's no DCL for the command line :-)

I have a command that calls the RPG as a CPP because I'm generally too
lazy to hold down the space bar every time I want to test something.
