I have a character variable with numeric data.
This holds number of copies that will be used on the OVRPRTF commnd.

DCL VAR(&COPYCHR) TYPE(*CHAR) LEN(1) VALUE(' ')
DCL VAR(&COPIES) TYPE(*DEC) LEN(1 0) VALUE(1)

CHGVAR VAR(&COPIES) VALUE(&COPYCHR)

Let us say the value of &COPYCHR is a '3' before the CHGVAR command.
After the CHGVAR executes, the value of &COPIES remains a 1.

What seems to be my problem ?
