Hmmm... does Notepad++ have RPG syntax checking? That would surprise me.

No, it doesn't. But then again, SEU allows lots of non-compilable code
to pass the 'syntax checker'. Notepad++ can be extended:
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/notepad-plus/index.php?title=User_Defined_Languages
SEU: not so much. And this from someone who's written his own SEU line
commands.

If it doesn't, then how does this improve productivity over SEU?

If forced to use an inferior editor, at least I can use one that has a
decent regex, more lines on the screen and the same, standard Windows
editing workflow I use for all my other programmer editing.

I didn't want to get into a vim vs emacs argument, but I did want to
share an opinion that there are other options I would choose over SEU in
the hopes that others reading this might become aware that there /are/
other options.

As of
7.1, anyway, there are only a small number of changes to RPG vs what SEU
supports in it's syntax checker.

%SCANRPL, %LEN(*MAX), RTNPARM and %PARMNUM are, I think, the only things
it matters for.

None of the new 7.1 SQL stuff passes either.

Were I in your shoes, I'd use Notepad++ over SEU. Download the source
member and edit it on the PC then upload it back and compile up there.
Here's an example of a very old Windows batch file that'll do the
download. Upload is similar and you can jam a CRTRPGMOD command in
there if you like.
