in a well modularized application, you would have a data access module for each View, doing all with the underlaying files, caching it's data. So you don't have to care about reading data twice, that won't happen within one job.
The real point behind my statement is, that in a well modularized application the performance critical parts could be optimized, cutting down the runtime of all other modules, using this. In monolithic applications code is copied from one programm to others and you would have to do the same optimisation steps multiple times to get the same effect.
