Similar to what Rory suggested, but less specific ...

If you put this line into a copybook called say totalcalcs:

CL0 total_calcs tag

Then you could just copy that in at the start of your total processing.

/free
detail stuff;

/copy totalcalcs

if *inL1;
whatever;
endif;

if *inLr;
whatever;
endif;
