I'm pretty sure I said if the record length is the same? But, maybe that was in a different message.



Not true; it's perfectly possible to READE on partial keys, either using a
single field or a data structure.


My experience is that if you define the key as, for example, "12AI" on the F-spec, you have to provide a key that's 12-long to the opcodes like READE. You can't simply provide a part of a key (say, the first 5 characters.)

Does your experience not match this?
