Actually, you probably surprise me the most.  Let me help you with your dilemma:  If you can replace "it's" with "it is" or "it has", then keep the apostrophe.  Otherwise, lose the apostrophe.

I'm afraid that I'm a lost cause when it comes to "it's" vs "its".  I've been trying my whole life to get that right, and I just don't seem to be capable of it.
