I finally figured out a combo that works - CCSID 13488 on the field itself, along with defining the field as type "G" ("C" didn't seem to work). That and adding "ccsid=ucs2" as Barbara suggested to my XML-INTO options seemed to do the trick. I don't see
the "greater than or equal to" in the green screen, but I don't need to -- in this application, the data is accessed in web pages, and they seem to work fine.
I think I'll try to learn more about the "G" data type, though . . . .

You're probably better off with UCS-2, that is CCSID 13488 and RPG data
type C.
