Yes, I'm aware that they were charging. Why else am I saying, "This is really cool"?
And since they charged for it once, I wouldn't be surprised if they would charge for it again. Bending to pressure? How about removing the barrier. Then raise the chain up behind us later. I guess I'm being pessimistic, but I'm still dealing with the pains of RDp pricing.

Actually, Kurt, the opposite has already happened - OAR started out as an extra-cost feature of RPG and the run-time. Now it is included at no extra cost.
I'll also get a little picky about words - it's not a tool, so far as I see it. It's a feature of the language, RPG. It felt like it was unprecedented when IBM charged for a new feature of the language - a new keyword on an F-spec, plus the system support behind that keyword. Now things feel more like back to normal.
I hope that this encourages more developers to work with non-traditional data sources in RPG - that it helps us all to keep working with the platform and language that we find to be so productive and robust for our employers.
Regards
Vern

I just posted a blog entry in the RPG cafe about an IBM announcement that I am really excited about.
