Hi Chamara

I hope Barbara or someone else from IBM Rational will see this - it seems strange that IBM itself in Sri Lanka is saying this.

If you want, take a look at the What's New section of the RPG Reference. Here is a link to the 7.1 version, which has changes for all releases back to V3R3 -

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v7r1m0/topic/rzasd/sc09250807.htm#rnewrel

If you review these, you will see many changes, I believe. This is not what would happen if there no longer an investment in the language.

I can also say, I was at a meeting about RPG Directions, held in Rochester by IBM. There are definitely more things coming. I'm not at liberty to say what they are, due to non-disclosure agreement terms.

Of course, the Open Access feature is not even mentioned in the reference - and now it is freely available on 6.1 and 7.1.

In your part of the world, I have to believe that global language support is important, and that has been enhanced in 7.1 to provide automatic conversion for character strings in parameters.

These are all available in Sri Lanka, just as they are in the US, so far as I know.

Good luck!
Vern

Hi,

There is some talks going on in Sri Lanka among some developers they say
RPG is dying and IBM is no longer invsting on it.

But I know that is not the case, sad thing is Sri Lankan IBM also saying
rpg is dying and their support is 0 on RPG. Infact they do nothing for us
who is in this arena (no events no seminars nothing)

May b this is being discussed in this list but I like to get some more
details on the subject especially I like to hear some thing on this from
Barbara Morris, Scott, Aaron Bartell, John and Susan or any one who knows
about this.

Thanks
