XMLSERVICE exposes your RPG program as a webservice
or stored procedure using a generic XML interface.

Brian,

I just reread the article that you wrote for System i Network which provided an introduction to XMLSERVICE:

http://bit.ly/xwIJ7E

Only this time it struck me that the XMLSERVICE interface is a lot more strait-forward and easier to understand than those defined by WSDL and SOAP specifications. Yet the XMLSERVICE interface provides for a lot of flexibility in defining input parameters and data types passed to it. WSDL and SOAP make sense conceptually to me; at a high level. But their implementations still don't make sense to me. And much of the documentation I've read is beyond comprehension. I often feel left out of the loop when it comes to SOAP based web services.

Which makes XMLSERVICE a refreshing alternative.
