INFDS may have that status, but being able to see results of BIFs is a
lot more than %eof. Things like the results of %scan would not be anywhere.

automatically ADD those variables during the compile - whenever the
compiler saw a function, it would create a hidden variable of the
correct type. It's not perfect; it wouldn't allow you to debug
production code, for example. But it would go a long way toward
addressing the issue.
