I worked on one project where we used extreme programming and was pleasantly
surprised at the outcomes.
What I found was that the collaboration and general exchange of ideas was
extremely useful and the work rate was faster than I expected.
The project was relatively small and the level of cooperation between a
small team was exceptionally good.
I've worked on other projects where I think I could have gouged the eyes out
of certain individuals if we had to use the extreme programming method.

FWIW, we'd love to go with 'extreme programming" or "pair programming"
or whatever is best, but we have neither the manpower nor the time.
"Pair programming", for people learning a new language or system, sounds
like a very good idea.
For people who have the skills & experience, however, it sounds like an
incredible waste of resources ... and a very quick way to jack up your
health insurance rates due to employees injuries caused by fist fights.
