RE: RPG Word Mail Merge

I am interested in the Apache solution for this too, and have toyed with it,
but it seems that something else always takes priority.

An alternative that has had some discussion here (check the archives) is
RTF. You may have better success finding tools and examples of RTF than
Word.

We currently use a visual basic program to mailmerge data from the
as400 with word documents stored on our network.. This works well but
a pain when changing versions of word, and we would like to move to
something better.

We currently use the apache POI api's to create excel documents using
RPG, which works very well, (thanks Scott).

Is anyone using the apache HWPF api which I understand will create word
documents. I'm not sure this is even working yet.

Any suggestions on how to mailmerge word documents using RPG would be
appreciated.
