I also found in American English a lot of German words are allowed,
known and used which would have been marked as mistake in our English
lessons at school. (We learned British English)
...or English as we like to call it... ;o)
Actually, I have to admit that I've worked with a number of Germans in
Frankfurt and their English was a lot better than most native speakers.

Personally I don't have a problem mixing words from different languages,
but
what I do hate with a passion is "text speak". It's tolerable in SMS
messages (well it is if you don't get unlimited messages as part of your
bundle or bolt-on), but there's no excuse for using it in emails and the
like.
