Hi Andy,
But can you not still exit the source where the syntax checker had
found the 7.1 enhancements and flagged them as invalid. Then just
create the program or module?
Yes, you can still use SEU to edit the source, ignore the errors it
returns for new features, and it'll compile/run properly.
George Farr did make this clear during his talk.
People also asked if there was a way (without SEU) to jump into a member
and make a quick change on the fly. Like if they are away from their
usual desktop computer, and need to make a really quick change on the
fly. (One of the main things SEU can do that's not solved by RDP)
George said you could still use SEU to solve the problem -- but people
complained that they'd therefore have to buy ADTS which seems like a
waste if you only use it for a quick on-the-fly.
So I suggested (and George agreed) that you could also do this:
EDTF FILE(QRPGLESRC) MBR(MY_SRC_MBR)
It would do no syntax checking, but it'd work. The compiler doesn't
know which editor you used -- so it'll still compile without a problem.
