All of you using RPG+SQL for reports instead of OPNQRYF, I
assume you're using a cursor in RPG?

Not all the time. We've encapsulated SQL in a command like this :

EXECSQL CMD('INSERT INTO QTEMP/WRKFILE +
SELECT * FROM MYFILE +
WHERE MYFIELD = ''BLOGGS'' +
ORDER BY SORTFIELD')

It uses REXX ( thanks Dave Odom ) but could also easily use RPG.

We nearly banned the use of OPNQRYF. In the end we decided to let it gradually die out with the old programmers!
