Michael,
Thanks, I'll check the archives for the articles on SFTP.
I'm not sure why the choices are Frame Relay (actually, FTP through Frame
Relay) or Secure FTP.
These are the vendor requirements, the vendor being Chase Paymentech.
Thanks,
Charlie

Frame Relay is a WAN networking protocol. It would be analogous to dial-up
or leased line. I don't know why Frame Relay or Secure FTP would be a
choice...they're not the same thing.
Anyway, sFTP is relatively easy to implement on the iSeries. Search the
archives - there's been good discussion about setting up sFTP.
FTPAPI would not be used for sFTP. You would script your puts and gets.

I've started looking at the batch part of my specifications and now have
question about the FTP portion of my project,FTP
since you mentioned FTPAPI.
My project specs call for either Secure FTP or "Frame Relay."

If that's a viable solution, we may want to go with that, since I've
already used regular FTP.
The other choice is Secure FTP.
I was told that another programmer here already did a project with Secure
FTP, so I was hopeful that I'd be able to use his code as the basis for
mine... What I just discovered is that his project used Secure FTP
SSL (aka FTPS) but my project calls for FTP using SSH (SFTP). The vendorAS/400
documentation suggests as examples OpenSSH or PuTTY.
I'm new to all this as well, having only done "regular" FTP from the

I only know that I cannot use the method that's already been used here,
FTPS.
What does "Frame Relay" mean? Is that a viable alternative for an

If that's not a viable solution, will FTPAPI help me for doing SFTP on

Thanks,
