Correct. If you define the string in RPG as a varying string then you will
not have to trim, unless the original string contains blanks.

If you original string is defined with a length of 64 and does NOT have the
varying keyword you will still need to use trim. Either way though you are
better off concatenating the string in RPG then creating the Java string.

newRPGString = %trim(RPGvar1) + %trim(RPGvar2);
newJavaString = newString(newRPGString);

The newRPGString should have the varying keyword on it. You can skip the
%trim() parts if the other two (RPGvarX) are defined as varying as well.

ok, so I _can_ do that. I wasn't sure about that. If I use varying then I
won't need trim, correct?
